OKE 2010 Board Nominee Biographies

President (1):
Meghan Richey

I have been active in OKE since 2002 and have served on the board twice in that time. Even when not on the board, I have been active in supporting and promoting eventing in OK and do all I can to help spread the word about the club’s activities.  I am currently on the board but will give up my position if I am elected President.  I would, of course, continue the same role I am currently doing—ie supporting OKE and eventing in general OK, helping to organize activities, and help guide members in ways they can not only help the sport grow but in also in finding ways the club can help them as well.  Forever Kickin’ On for OKE, Meghan

Vice President (1):
Bobbi Pratt

My name is Bobbi Pratt and I have been an OKE member for over 10 years now.  I have been Eventing since the early 90s and also an active member of the USEA, AQHA, 4-H and USEF.  I have served as a Board member of OKE several times over the past 8 years as well as serving currently as the current Instructor and co-Leader for the McClain County 4-H Horse club.  I look forward to working for OKE in the upcoming 2 years.  I hope to help the membership of the club continue to grow and to provide more educational opportunities and Eventing competitions for OKE members to participate in.

Board Members At-Large (6):
Suzy Smith
My name is Suzy Smith.  I went to high school in Tulsa, and then moved away as quickly as I could.  After 10 years or so in various careers up and down the east coast, I came back to Oklahoma when my parents divorced and my mom wanted to buy a farm. 5 years, 22 Acres and 14 horses later, I am lucky enough to work with horses for a living, and love (almost) every moment of it.  I am new to eventing after doing mostly hunters, jumpers, and young horses, and I love it!

Ann Kuhns
Anne Kuhns has been an OKE board member for the past two years.  She along with Marta Koenig ran numerous combined test schooling shows and organized a jumping clinic in August of this year.  Anne is also very involved with Oklahoma Dressage Society as a board member and education coordinator and past president of Green Country Chapter of ODS.  She is excited about the new eventing venues in Oklahoma and, if elected, is willing to help promote the sport of eventing as an active OKE board member.

Marta Koenig
I am Marta Koenig.  I have served as OKE president for the last three years.  I have organized several learning days, clinics, seminars and together with Anne Kuhns, put on the Prairie Lane Combined Test and the Lily Pond Combined test for the last several years.  I am excited to see that we now have many more eventing venues in Oklahoma that just a few years ago and I believe that OKEventers have played a role in that increase.
I ride and compete on my own horse at Novice level with the goal of moving up to Training Level.
I would like to continue to be involved in promoting eventing in Oklahoma by continuing to serve on the board of Oklahoma Eventers.
Thank you for your consideration for a board position for 2010-2011.

Loren McDougall
I have ridden horses ever since i can remember, starting out by riding western with my father and then later on doing barrel racing for a short period. Around age twelve my curiosity of the english world finally lead me to join the local Pony Club along with taking formal lessons. After  I showed hunters for a several years but missed the excitement of cross-country and began getting back into eventing. I competed up through training level  but while schooling prelim. had to retire my horse due to injury. This lead me to finding a passion for working with both green and young horses, something i still love doing. I then began a working student program for 2 years under a Grand Prix dressage trainer and he was the one that encouraged me to try teaching after helping with camps one summer.  I have now been teaching for 7 years. I have worked at a number of large facilities in the Tulsa area, one in which i was the head trainer and barn manager. I have taught all ages and varying levels and have taken many students from teaching the basics of english riding to competing successfully in recognized Horse Trials, several even to the national championship level. I have been training out of Lily Pond Estate in Kellyville for 3 years now and am proud to be a part of such a wonderful equestrian community we are building there. I live in edmond with my husband and eleven month old daughter and commute to Lily Pond only twice a week now. I have downsized my clientele significantly from before to spend more time with my daughter and finally focus on furthering my own riding career with my string of young sporthorses. I still actively travel to many Recognized events in and out of area 5 to teach and school my students and I am  currently pursuing my Level 1 certification through USEA's ICP program. I hope to get several horses going again within the next several years and continue to move up  through the levels of this program in order to be a more solid educator in this wonderful sport.

Farley White (Jr)
I am a sophomore at Holland Hall.  I am an avid pony clubber and is rated D-3, working on her C-1 rating.  I ride at Runnymede Stables and love my Selle Francais named Hugo.  We are looking forward to doing lots of showing this spring.

Elizabeth Kretzer (Jr)
I am 16 years old and a junior at Broken Arrow high school, I have been riding for as long as I can remember and love everything about it. I participate in FFA, Pony Club, and ODS, and was recently introduced to eventing this summer, and participated in several schooling horse trials. My short term goals for next year are to compete in recognized horse trials at beginning novice and compete at the Pony Club championships in eventing.  My long term goals are to ride with a college team, and event up to preliminary.
